The map depicts the principle kingdoms of Britain in the 8th century. The Cymbrian Kingdoms are in the region of Wales to the west, as well as Cornwall in the far southwest of the island. The other kingdoms are all Saxons. The kingdom of Northumbria does not appear on this map, but is to be found north of Mercia.
This campaign is set in the Cymbrian Kingdom of Gwent and Glywysing, just north of the Severn Sea in the west of Britain. Most characters will be Cymbrian, but players can if they wish play Saxons, Picts, Skotti, or Irish characters. Such characters will be at a distinct disadvantage in the campaign, however, having low status in comparison with the Cymbrian characters. Outsiders such as these should have appropriate backgrounds--as outlaws or refugees from another kingdom, prisoners taken in war, etc. All will be attached to a local Cymbrian lord, most likely a King, but possibly a Bishop as well.
